What is DHA (Dihydroxyacetone)?
DHA is a colourless derivative of sugar cane that has been FDA approved for more than 30 years. DHA darkens the skin by interacting with the amino acids in the dead surface cells found in the outermost layer of the skin, causing it to darken naturally.
Does Tan Perfetly have a shelf life?
Yes, we have not included any additives and preservatives to extend the shelf life of this formula, as these ingredients are known to cause allergic reactions in some people. The shelf life for our formula is 9 months. Always store Tan Perfectly below 28 degrees celcius, as the active ingredient in most self tanning products (dihydroxyacetone) deteriorates at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius.
How does the Tan Perfectly formula work?
This formula is made up of TWO tanning agents. 1. An instant bronzer which will give an instant tan effect and allow you to see exactly where you are spraying the clear DHA ingredient. 2. DHA - this ingredient gives the most natural looking colour but it takes up to 24 hours to fully develop. The instant bronzer can be washed off after 8 hours (it's water soluble) as by then the DHA will have fully absorbed.
Can I use Tan Perfectly if i have Vitiligo?
Tan Perfectly will help to cover up Vitiligo. We recommend you apply to the lighter areas as thickly as possible. Then, allow to dry. Allow to develop, ideally overnight, before washing off the guide colour to reveal your tan. If the tan is not dark enough, repeat again.
How long will my tan last?
Generally, Tan Perfectly will last between 5-10 days, depending on your skin type and how you care for it.
How long do i need to wait before showering?
Ideally leave it for 8 hours – the tan will keep developing for up to 24 hours
Can Tan Perfectly be used during Pregnancy?
Yes, our main tanning agent is dihydroxyacetone, which has no known toxicity. Tan Perfectly only works upon the uppermost layers of the skin and cannot get into the bloodstream from normal application. However, be aware that hormonal changes during pregnancy (especially during the first 3 months) may affect the development of the tan. Do not apply to the breast area if breastfeeding. We recommend consulting your GP before use if you have any worries.
